Prerequisite for Applying Support Packs

Hi Gurus,
 
Please tell me what are the prerequisite for before applying support packs? Shall I apply sap basis patch to all the system, like BW, ABAP, HR, etc?

    Before applying any patch first do take a offline backup of your SAP system.
    Check the tablespaces and file system space and make sure that there is enough free space.

    And go to SAP service market place and check the prerequisites of the particular patch by clicking on the info link of that patch.

    1.Kernel should be laest one
    2. Free space in EPS/IN Directory
    3. SPAM version should be latest version
    4. No aborted pactches in the system

    As all below requirements are correct.

    Apart from then you needs to lock all other clients in system to prevent login during patching acitivty.

    You needs to off database log (archieve and transaction) generation.

    All preqeuisite SPs also needs to be in queue.

    Hi All

    while installing support packs before we need to check in the EPS in Directory and in the market place latest support packs available or not and transport tool working properly or not check all this and download the SP and run the t-code SPAM then import the Support pack and confirm.

    when ever installing a support pack first lock all those users except you and admin department check kernal version and go through the sap notes.

    1.login to 000 client and user like DDIC
    2.spam/saint tools updated
    3.ensure tht enough space in trans directory
    4.there is atleast 2 background work processes are running
    5.if the support pak file size is morethan 10mb thn need to apply from application server only
    6.order to apply support paks i.e apply in sequential order
    7.no jumping process between paks
    8.while applying support packs the system is is Up& Running
    9.check the current versions and apply the suitable versions
    10.ensure that there is enough space in DB
    11.ensure that TMS is configured
    12.Ensure that SAP Router is configured
